The Fastest Exhaust on the Planet!

16:41 03 May in News

Familiar with providing complex fabrications for the most demanding environments, SST Technology has taken things to the next level through its involvement and support of the Bloodhound Project. In development now for over 8 years, the Bloodhound vehicle features a front end and monocoque design derived from Formula One, whilst the rear end and tailfin comes from aircraft design. It will be driven by Andy Green (former fast jet and Thrust SSC pilot) and reach speeds of over 1000MPH in the South African Desert.

How appropriate therefore is for it to feature an exhaust system and thermal management solution, designed and manufactured by a company whom work extensively in Formula One and Aerospace industries itself. The exhaust system designed and manufactured by SST Technology will be fitted to the auxiliary power unit, a Jaguar V8. The power unit is primarily responsible for pumping the fuel for the liquid hybrid rocket.

SST Technology is incredibly excited to be involved in such a cutting edge project. Additionally Bloodhound’s commitment to encouraging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subjects in young students fits perfectly with SST Technology’s talent development and commitment in young engineers and apprentices of the future.

Watch this space for further updates, the next milestone is a reduced speed run at Newquay Airport in the Autumn of 2017.
