SST Technology is launching its in-house 3D Printing Additive Manufacturing capability at PMW 2018.
SST Technology specialises in the design and manufacture of complex metallic assemblies for critical applications such as high-performance exhaust systems, thermal insulation, heat exchangers, and structural products such as the Halo. With expertise in welding, joining, forming, hydroforming, laser processes and machining it made sense to add the manufacture of 3D printed metallic components to the portfolio of advanced technologies.
SST has strived to employ the most advanced technologies in its products and its exhaust systems in particular. The demand for improved performance and packaging with reduced weight has led SST to incorporate fabricated, hydroformed, machined and 3D printed parts together to deliver the most technologically advanced exhaust systems available today.
Typically manufactured from Inconel 625 on our Renishaw AM400 selective laser melting system, components including engine flanges, transitions, collectors, secondaries and even completely 3D printed exhaust systems are integrated into customer products by SST. Considering 3D Printed AM parts at the early design stage allows more flexibility and opens up new opportunity for weight and performance optimisation. SST offer a fully collaborative engineering and design service capturing product requirements, through detailed design, manufacture, validation, quality control and testing of the product.
