A winning success on a motorbike

In 2016 SST Technology sponsored Stuart Boatwright, a fabricator for over two years, with his motorbike racing at the Motor Bike Classic Club and Early Stocks Club Race.

The results were amazing as Stuart won the Championship in his club.  Well done!

In his own words, Stuart said:

“Let us go racing my partner Sonia suggested! From just using my bike on a track day to actually racing on the track I really did not think was something I could do but now I do not think of anything else! The thrill of being on the grid and the excitement of race preparation is part of our lives and we would not change it.

The year started with sponsorship from SST Technology for whom I work as a Fabricator in the Insulation department. The team consists of my partner Sonia and Kierran Maidment an Apprentice who also works at SST Technology. Testing started in March and then the first race started. My main goal was to gain experience to get rid of the novice bib, however we soon realised I was a serious contender to win the championship.

It all came down to the final race a few points between and the championship, it was a great day, right tyre choice, which meant I qualified on pole position. This was a great achievement!  The day ended winning the championship for 2016.

We attended the presentation evening and the great John Reynolds presented me with two trophies. A good time was had by all and lots of partying till the early hours.

2017 brings fresh challenges!! The 4 hour Endurance Legends race at Donnington Park in May and chasing another set of trophies. The FZ is currently having a makeover and will be chomping at the bit for next round which starts in March.”
